After posting the list of songs I scratched my head, amazed that I actually liked some of them. Granted, some are ageless classics, but some of them are, well, less than that. Way less in fact. We each had our reasons for liking a particular song. Even today, I can hear one of them and think of you guys.
I guess in retrospect we like to look at those years with lines like, "We had joy, we had fun, we had seasons in the sun", but later, others lines seemed to fit a few of the awkward moments a little better, as when Janis Ian sang, "To those of us who knew the pain, Of valentines that never came, And those whose names were never called, When choosing sides for basketball."
They were both a part of growing up.
