Who's Who

There are posts here about classmates who are missing and who we've lost touch with, but we haven't really said who is here. I think everyone who has supported this blog as we've moved along should take a bow. This way, when someone new checks in they can see that it's not all me and also get some idea who they're likely to run into if they hang around here long enough.

First and foremost there are the big 3... and no, I don't mean that kind of big... I just mean without them, this blog would be pretty darned bare.

Kathey Guider Lilly -- This whole thing grew out of a comment she made, so it's really her idea.
Donna Morgan Hamil -- She and Brenda have beat the bushes a lot looking for people and spreading the word about this blog. Between the two of them I don't think there's too many classmates left around Loudon who haven't heard about this.
Brenda Nicholson Blankenship - She can remember more stuff than I thought humanly possible.

As I've said several times, I do not expect anyone to make this their homepage, and I greatly appreciate the effort you each have put into it. You've given me lots of ideas, either directly or through your comments and it's grown to include pictures and polls and slideshows, and well, just about anything we can fit on here. More than that however, is each of us has a different way of looking at all the memories and that helps keep them fresh -- like that Lemon Delight you spoke about Brenda, if that's anything like a lemon square I'm going to be knocking on your door one of these days. :)

Long story short -- thanks folks. You have always been a great bunch.

Hey folks, Tony Woody has joined our little group. I've seen your name pop up more than once Tony, but it was all good. He also added his information to the alumni site as well. I'll be sending out a new email list with Tony on it.

Inquiring Minds Want to Know

Sometimes when I think about Loudon, I catch myself wondering about some things I remembered and whether it's anywhere near the same now. Here's a few of the things that cross my mind.

1. Do the old men still sit on the bench on the corner across from the old White Store and whittle?

2. Is there a walkway on the new bridge in case someone decides to walk across it?

3. Late Sunday afternoon, when the streets downtown are almost deserted, does the church up on the hill still ring its bells and create what I used to call the loneliest feeling in the world?

4. Is the pool hall still open?

5. Do a lot of folks from the country still come to town on Saturday mornings?

6. Where is the public library now?

7. There used to be two drugstores down town, are there any downtown now?

8. If I still lived in Loudon and wanted to catch a Trailways or a Greyhound bus, where would I go?

9. I know the river is (was) polluted at the old ferry, but does anybody still put into the river there now?

10. Do they still have a street festival downtown?

11. Do they still have the 4th of July (?) parade and the Homecoming parade?

12. Where is the Loudon Herald office now?

13. Is there still a Handle Factory in the west end?

14. What’s the name of the old aluminum company that was across the street from the Handle Factory?

15. Is the city dump still up on Reservoir Hill?

16. Is the creamery still in operation?

Where Did They Go?

Somewhere between freshman and senior year, a lot of people moved in and out of our class. They stayed for one , two or three years and then disappeared. I'm sure some moved, some graduated early and some quit. I know someone from each of those groups, but I'm not going to guess at the ones I don't know. Here is a list of people who were with us for awhile and then moved on. I'm not included those who I know have passed, because the underlying question here is where did they go? (If I've messed up on some of these, let me know)
